Theatre Alphonse Desjardins

Innovative Lighting for a Multifunctional Auditorium

At the heart of Repentigny's new cultural hub, the auditorium at Théâtre Alphonse Desjardins redefines flexibility with an architectural lighting solution tailored to adapt to any event. Whether hosting a symphony, a theatre performance, or a standing-room concert, the lighting system plays a starring role in shaping the audience experience.

Lighting That Disappears—and Delivers

The design brief called for a highly integrated solution—lighting that enhances the space without revealing its source. To preserve the architectural purity and maintain the element of theatrical mystery, Lumenpulse linear luminaires were discreetly embedded within suspended acoustic panels and parabolic louvers. This approach minimized visual clutter and glare while ensuring powerful, uniform illumination across every seating configuration, including a retractable balcony system.

Seamless Control Across Systems

A trio of interconnected lighting control systems ensures total flexibility:
  • Architectural lighting is managed via an intelligent relay panel, connected to the internet for remote access.
  • Auditorium lighting is driven by DMX-based programming, integrating house and stage systems.
  • Stage lighting is controlled from professional consoles in the control room.
These systems offer intuitive use for both trained technicians and casual users, with multiple control points for on-the-fly adjustments.

Engineered for Adaptability

  • Hidden, Not Absent: Fixtures are seamlessly integrated to enhance without distracting.
  • Uniform Illumination: Linear fixtures provide consistent light across retractable seating and variable layouts.
  • Multi-Zone Control: Dynamic lighting zones adapt to different show formats, from cabaret to concerts.
  • Reduced Glare, Elevated Design: Angled acoustic structures and louvers double as visual shields.
Théâtre Alphonse Desjardins now shines with versatility and sophistication—proving that great lighting is just as much about what you don't see.
