Lumenpulse luminaires enhance a sunlit workplace environment in the heart of Montreal, helping to sustain a two-floor tall tree and improve the wellness of all its employees.
One of the most striking features of the Cogeco offices located in one of Montreal's emblematic skyline towers, Place Ville Marie, is the tree that rises through the main stairwell. In order for this majestic, two-story organism to continue living by photosynthesizing light, the Lumenpulse Lumencore Recessed Nio Decorative luminaires reproduce a quality of light that mimics the natural environment outside. To do this, the Lumencore Recessed Nio Decorative luminaires were specified at various optics and outputs surrounding the tree to ensure levels of 1500lux while still maintaining the visual comfort needed by employees.
The canopy ceiling above the tree is made of a stretched canvas that is backlit in dynamic white to replicate the way daylight varies throughout the day, giving the impression that natural light is coming in from above. This not only helps the tree, it helps all those living beings that work alongside it.
The Lumenpulse Lumencore luminaires, which offer increased visual comfort throughout the central space of both the first and second floors surrounding the stairwell area, provide a uniform general lighting thanks to their Very Wide 80° optics with faceted reflectors. The outcome of this type of lighting is that people have a human-centric lighting that focuses on their well-being as much as creating a well-lit space.
The lighting design of the Cogeco offices had to reflect the breathtaking, 360° view of the city that incorporates the St. Lawrence River and the natural light enriching the space itself, while also providing its own memorable quality of light. Throughout the offices, halls, and conference rooms, the Lumencore luminaires create a space where the natural light is in harmony with the artificial, to the point that one, at times, is indecipherable from the other. The true testament to this achievement is the lush tree reaching through the stairwell.
