Xiqu Centre

Lumenpulse Lumenbeam luminaires embolden Hong Kong's new opera house, and the lighting design is getting "glowing" reviews internationally.

Created by Revery Architecture, the new Xiqu Centre is a gorgeous addition to the West Kowloon Cultural District. The Xiqu Centre is "the" place for traditional Chinese theatre and opera and the building, as well as the lighting design, have been garnering praise the world over.

The Xiqu Centre is not only a cultural landmark, but it also houses educational facilities, as well as dining and retail areas. To extol its many facets, Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design Inc (HLB) used Lumenpulse Lumenbeams to add general lighting within the atrium, the atrium area can be seen glowing from within and through the cutouts of the exterior facade.

One of HLB's goals for their design was that it be sustainable. The down-washing light accurately projected from the Lumenbeams keeps light to the interior atrium area without leaking through the large open doorway. The overall efficiency, lifetime, and low-maintenance aspects of the Lumenbeam luminaires have made them a wise choice for such conscientious projects.

The lighting design used throughout the Xiqu Centre is indicative of a deep, symbiotic relationship with the architecture, and Lumenpulse luminaires, through their design and precision were one of the elements ensuring its successful realisation.
