Quartier Hédas

Lumenpulse luminaires provides safety and amusement for children using a new playground while also lowering power consumed in this district by 70% in Pau, France.

The district of Hedas, in Pau, France, is a historic district in the heart of the city. The town was interested in a revitalization which included a lighting strategy, expertly carried out by Quartiers Lumières, that would encourage visitors to rediscover the area as well as attract businesses while upping the cultural draw of the region.

Recabord Square, centrally located along the length of the promenade, is primarily made up of a modern playground for children. The Lumenpulse Lumenbeam luminaires mounted on two 34-foot tall (10.5m) masts light the play areas. The projection and breadth of the Lumenbeam optics (40° flood and 60° wide flood) allows the mast-mounted luminaires to thoroughly light the two sections of playground with ease, while the Narrow Spot 10° Lumenbeams point out areas of interest, creating an exciting contrast with the general lighting.

The Lumenbeams not only provide safety and complete lighting coverage, putting light exactly where the lighting designers wanted, they also provide a dynamic aesthetic to the space. With Color-changing and Warm White capabilities, the Lumenbeams are able to put a natural looking light atop the playground in the dark of night, or, during festivals, color the area in celebration.

The overall development project of the Hedas district contributes to the preservation and enhancement the specific spirit of the neighborhood. The Lumenpulse luminaires address the city's concerns related to sustainable development, and the city's  strong commitment to lower electricity consumption. An economy of savings in power consumed by 70% was noted compared to the original lighting system.

Now that the Hedas district has been revamped with landscaping, leisure and play areas, and a lighting strategy, the response has been widespread between locals and visitors, it is the place to be, a destination unto itself.
