Lumenpulse Launches Lumentalk™ at Lightfair International 2012

Breakthrough new technology enables digital control of LED lighting over existing AC power lines, and reduces installation costs by 30%

Montreal, Canada and Boston, USA

Lumenpulse Inc., (www.lumenpulse.com) a leading innovator and manufacturer of high performance, architectural LED-based lighting solutions for commercial, institutional, and urban environments, announced the availability of Lumentalk™, a patent-pending technology that enables digital control of LED lighting over existing AC power lines, maximizing cost and energy savings.

Lumentalk will debut at Booth #6618 at Lightfair International 2012, May 9-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Lumentalk turns existing electrical wiring into a stable, noise-free high-speed communications link for data, enabling LED fixtures to be reliably controlled without additional wiring. Furthermore, the technology is protocol independent, making it compatible with common dimmer and control standards: Triac, 0-10V, DALI, DMX, ELV.

Lumentalk enables traditional lighting systems to be upgraded to LED without the cost and hassle of opening up walls and ceilings to rewire for data - leading to a dramatic 30% reduction in total installation cost.

"Lumentalk will change the way electrical engineers, lighting designers, architects and electrical contractors think about upgrading to LED lighting fixtures," said François-Xavier Souvay, Founder, President and CEO of Lumenpulse. "LEDs are made of silicon; essentially they're semiconductors that happen to emit light. And just like computers, LEDs can communicate information, not just illuminate. Lumentalk turns LED fixtures into networks that can do for lighting what the Internet has done for computing - enable us to think of lighting as an intelligent system that's scalable from simple broadcast dimming options to complex energy harvesting systems.

"

Lumentalk enables LED fixtures from any manufacturer to be dimmed and controlled over existing power lines, and works with any control or dimming standard (Triac, ELV, 0-10V, DALI, or DMX), AC voltage (100VAC - 277VAC), and operates within frequency bands allocated by worldwide regulations (FCC, CENELEC, ARIB).

According to lighting designer Iain Ruxton, Associate at Speirs + Major, the technology will reduce the complexity of refurbishing older buildings. "Lumentalk will save time and money enabling you to introduce modern lighting capability without having to install new cables. You don't want to open old walls, and the older they are, the nastier they can be. This is a big win for retrofits and refurbishments projects, saving time, money and client disruption. On top of that, because it works across manufacturers' hardware, Lumentalk eliminates any battles about compatibility, which brings a savings in contractual complexity, too."

Lumentalk has already been recognized as a game-changing technology, receiving a Product Innovation Award (PIA) in March, 2012.
